This reels presents 4 simulations that differ in the speed of the car when it collides with an obstacle without airbags.
These videos are the result of testing various parameters and methods of procedural constraint construction to achieve realistic results when colliding at various speeds with a solid obstacle of high mass.
The car model used in the project does not have power elements of the body, engine, door hinges and many other details that significantly affect the result of collisions in real tests. Therefore, I adjusted the deformation zone and the deformation force of metal elements, the strength of glass, fabrics and plastic elements based on a large amount of personal knowledge about the mechanics and structure of the car and a large number of reference videos about crash tests that I viewed as part of the work on the project.
I have completed many tests to correctly simulate the operation of the car suspension using Spring and Soft constraints. In the final version for rendering, I used only Soft constraints connected to a movable alloy wheel disc to simulate the operation of a car suspension.
While working on different types of constrain, I performed a side impact crash test. For the test, I used a second car of the same model instead of the special equipment used in real tests for side collisions. I later separated this into another project.
